Bed side toolboxes......Plastic??

I saw this at the boneyard yesterday,first plastic one I've seen....Was it some kind of replacement??

If I ever learn how to do the pics ya'll are in a world of trouble. Cause I got a new camere and a ton of junk yard to hit.

Are you sure that's plastic? That looks identical to the steel versions, wondering if maybe somebody just coated it with something to prevent rust.

Keith,you could see where it's cracked where one of the screws hold it on the body...It looked like it was made out of the same material they make those heater and a/c boxes out of...I never saw one like it and I thought maybe Ford repopped them out of plastic for replacements in later years....

The ones I've been seeing in the yards have all been plastic too.

maybe they were old stock replacements. or old aftermarket replacements.

Interesting! I've never seen a plastic one, and didn't realize they were even made. So they appear to be made from ABS plastic? Seems like that wouldn't be the best material to use for something made to carry heavy tools and equipment that would be banging around in there.
