Door window beltline weatherstrip - Why is 71-72 different?

Post by ford429pi »

The reason I ask is I will be using a '72 driver side door and a '70 passenger side door. Do the doors have different mounting clip holes or is the difference just a styling difference of the weatherstrip itself? I don't want to buy a 71-72 kit and find I can only use half the kit on the '72 driver's door. I want to know if the 71-72 kit fits all doors or not. If necessary I'll just repair my original '72 passenger door. Thanks in advance!

71 and 72 beltline strips have rubber on the outside strip. Earlier years have felt or "fuzzies".
I think they both will fit but Ive never tried. Im gonna have the same issue soon because my drivers door is 70 and my passenger door is 72.

They both fit I have the 71-72 antirattlers in my 70 crewcab so i had the rubber outside and not that felt. Same holes. I had gotten mine from DC no complaints.

Thanks for clarifying that. I thought they would.

They work great in the 2nd crewcab doors too as all thats missing is the wing window in them. Kinda wish they were on there but on the other hand that would look a little goofy.

As to why the '71 - '72 are different, I'm guessing because those two years had an optional AM/FM stereo with door speakers so they wanted to keep the water from running down inside the doors?
