"BIRD NOISE"
HI GUYS:
I'd like you to help me on this:
My 67 has a noise that sounds like a little bird and goes faster the faster the truck goes, i think it has something to do with the transmissions since it gets louder when i shift on second gear, than when i shift on first and also that's where it seems to come from. When i let the pick up go down hill on neutral there's not such noise. (just fyi, the transmission is a T-18 ).
Any how i'm planning on taking her to the doctor, but i do like to know yr theories on this so we can go look for the right thing.
Thanks a lot i will appreciate your help
Regards

Check u-joints by grabbing driveshaft and turning. If you have play and slop and chunking then the u-joint needs replacing. Suggest you replace them all while you do the work.

A carrier bearing on driveshaft will make noises like that. Mine was terrible.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

re: "BIRD NOISE"
Mine only makes the noise when the truck is accelerating. Mostly 2nd and 3rd gear. Not so much in 4th. U-joints make sense to me because the noise is most prevalent when the drivetrain is getting the most torque.

yea thats probably what it is. put some grease to them and check the slack in them while your under there by turning the driveshaft back and forth. if it doesn't give you any slack then you have some miles left on them . if it clunks then they will have to be replaced before they drop your dirve line in the middle of the street.
