Original Exhaust System?

Post by elvisjames »

Just bought a '70 Sport Custom and getting to know it .... I need to take out glass paks and want to go back to original style exhaust system to quiet way down. Was my 302 automatic Sport Custom dual or single exhaust off the production floor? Any other details on that? And, anyone know a good source to find an original AM radio?
I am new to this forum and look forward to this and other questions.
Thanks in advance!

My ‘72 F250 with the 390 has a y-pipe into a single exit exhaust in front of the passenger rear tire. I’m not sure if that’s what yours would have been, but that’s what mine is.

Beautiful truck, by the way

Regarding the radio, I see them on eBay pretty often. Sometimes even with the bezel and knobs!

Yes it would have had single exhaust. The tail pipe and muffler are still available at several places. The header pipe and crossover pipe are very difficult to find for the 302. I am actually awaiting delivery of mine this Friday. I found new OEM ones at a couple of places, they aren't cheap however.

Really, they exited in front of the tire stock? Did not know that.
