1972 F250 4 Speed Transmission

Post by Corkwheats »

Hi Guys,
Asking for a friend.
He is looking into buying a '72 F250.
According to the VIN, it has a 390 (H), and a "4-speed Syn. Warner T-18" 4 Speed Transmission (F).
What does anybody know about these? Is it a good one?
I hear people speak about Top Loaders, etc., but don't really know the scoop on the various 4 Speeds.
He's wanting to pull his hay trailer with it, so it's really important it has a strong transmission.
Thanks,
Bob

I've had both and I like the Warner trans. It's actually heavier than the New Process due to it's cast iron top. Very heavy duty.

Thanks,
That's the kind of input we were looking for.
Will let everyone know if he gets it - it may be a nice Bump - not sure yet.
