Drivetrain swap

Post by ncjames0780 »

Can I use the drivetrain from a 87 f150 in my 67 f100? I found a good deal on a 87 with power steering and ac with a 300 and am curious as to what I can swap over to my 67, if anything. Also would the 87 300 accept the head and accessories from my 67 240?

You will still have to use a power steering box from a 67-79 truck. In 1980 and up the steering box changed.

87 is a fuel injected 300 right?

Automatic?

I would swap it over EFI and all...

Itll undoubtedly take some Hot Rod Engineering but I think it would be really cool...

Yes the 87 is fuel injected but that’s the problem. I want to keep it old school, I have a 6=8 with twin 2 barrels waiting to be installed but don’t know if everything would bolt up to the 87 300. Would my 67 240 head bolt on to the 87 300 block? My goal is to keep the appearance in the engine bay as if it was hot rodded in the 70’s.

I second the idea of keeping the EFI IMO the EFI 300-6 is one of the best powerplants Ford ever made :2cents:

Moved to Engine since that is the main concern.

That would be pretty cool too, I can understand that.

Unfortunately I don’t know the answer, but hopefully the /6 guys will be along.

It should all bolt to the block. There may be head bolt size issues. I can't remember. Check this website. https://fordsix.com
