Starting issue

Post by massillon preacher »

Okay I finally bought a new carb after all my issue and while trying to dial that in after trying to start truck several times over the last few odd days and the day I put the carb in, the battery was getting weak so I put charger on it, while trying to start it then today where it started fine , it just quit, all of a sudden I heard just a click, one click sound and nothing, no turn over or anything, each time I wait a few minutes and try, one click and nothing. If I try a second time right after the first time, no click but if I wait a few odd seconds maybe up to a minute and turn key, one click and nothing again. Again I was starting it probably 4 or 5 times in a row as I was trying to dial in carb, it shut off as the idle was not good, jumped in truck to start it again and just this one click sound, what do you guys think?

I don't think battery, im talking it was turning over the engine fine and literally 2 seconds later when I turned the key again nothing at all, it made a pop or crack sound and then each time I try now I get a click, just one click sound and then nothing at all. Battery didn't just die in 2 seconds of time.

You need to take off your battery terminals, clean them and put them back on nice and snug. sounds like your terminals are loose. start there.

If you have the bolt on ends on the battery cable
Do yourself a favor and throw them away and get yourself some with soldered on ends

All signs point to a bad connection

Either at the battery end or the eyelet end
