Rear End Swap
Will a 78 F250, 2wd rear end direct swap into a 69 F100, 2wd?

You'll have to move the spring perches but I think that's all.

F100 would most likely be a 9-inch rear end with 5-lug axles. F250 rear end would be a Dana 60 with 8-lug axles. --completely different rear ends.

You end up with a five lug front end and an eight lug rear which most people don't want.

73 to 79 rear ends are 4" wider also. Might not have room for tires

The Dentside 9-inch rear end into a Bumpside is a common swap. You would just need to move the leaf spring perches and the lower shocks mounts over 2 inches on each side of the Dentside rear end housing.
This will put the rear wheels/tires out to the same track width distance as the front wheels.

Dana 60s with five lug axles were also an option on the F100s. Rarely seen, though. Parted out a '67 with a 352 4 spd and dana a few years ago.

Rear End Swap
Not necessarily... mine was definitely a 60 by tag and casting. They used both types in the F100s; there's a beautiful original '67 Merc 100 around here with a 44. These were used in the light Ford trucks long before Chrysler tapped Dana for them to throw under the hemi cars.

Rear End Swap
Just ran across the door tag I kept after scrapping the '67 F100. It shows a nov '66 build(A47xxx) with a 352, T18 warner 4 spd(F) and a dana 60 3.54 locking diff(E9).
