70 long box 4spd top loader swap drive shaft to short

I have a 1970 F100 long box sport custom with a 302. I replaced the 3 spd w a 4 spd toploader. after hours of fighting with it I finally got it in only to find the 2 piece drive shaft is to short. its about an inch to short. I was hoping some one knew if there was a car/truck w a one piece drive shaft that would fit.

Which 4 spd? Manufacturer/model? Here's a chart showing drive shaft lengths for various different wheelbase/transmission/rear end combinations. If you can't tell it from there, then get the measurement of the front (short) shaft and try to match it up to the Ford part number. I put a Mustang ( 24" ) toploader in my 69 FE ( was 360, now 428 ) truck. The toploader was longer than the short 3 speed that was there. I had a one piece driveshaft made to do away with the carrier bearing. Never had a problem with it that way.

My truck is a short wheelbase. I took out the 3-speed and swapped in a TopLoader 4-speed and my driveshaft was too long and had to be shortened. I'm not sure why your driveshaft would be too short with a TopLoader? It should be too long.
