Gear Vendor
Just wondering if anyone has used a gear vendor and if so what are your thoughts on it? Worth the price? I am looking into one to match up to my 431 and c6. Thanks

is the money worth the benefits to you? are you paying to have it installed or doing it yourself? I mean smoke em if you got em.

Re: Gear Vendor
You would cruise out nice, but the cost is $$$$. I have thought about it, but there is a bunch of other things I have on my to do list that are ahead of overdrive.
May your sails stay full, and your knots not slip. Unless a slip knot.

Re: Gear Vendor
Overdrive is "better" with a manual trans..... it's more fun than throwing a switch.

Re: Gear Vendor
My brother Inlaw just installed one he installed it at home so no shop fees but he still has a small fortune in it. After it was all said and done he told me he wished he hadn't because of the cost vs what it does. He could have done a manual overdrive twice over for the money. If you have the money to burn go for it but what other things could you do instead.

Re: Gear Vendor
I had looked into adding a GV onto my TopLoader 4-speed I had, but it was going to cost $3,000 just for the kit with me doing the work myself, and that still didn't include my driveshaft that would have to be shortened.
I yanked & sold my TL4 and bought a brand new Tremec TKO-600 for $2,300 and I didn't need to have my driveshaft modified. With the other $1,000 that I would have spent on the GV, I was able to rebuild my rear axle, swap to better performing gears, and add an Eaton TrueTrac differential.
If you must have an automatic transmission and want overdrive, then the GV is certainly an option, just not the most economical one. A buddy of mine put a GV into his '67 Mustang GTA and he loves it. He wanted to keep it automatic, so that the route he went.
