1976.5 Dana 44 Front - Interchangable Bearing Hubs?

Post by ChevyToughRebel »

Hi all, Ive got a 1976.5 Dana 44 front axle for my '72 F250 thats missing everything from the bearing hubs out. Ive spent a lot of time researching the internet trying to get a solid answer on what other bearing hubs might work on my axle. The spindles, caliper brackets, inner axle shafts, and knuckles are the only pieces there. I went to the wrecking yard the other day seeing what was out there and found a complete ttb front axle on an '83 F250 that I was staring at for a while wondering if the pieces might work on my axle.

Apart from converting everything to chevy parts from the knuckles out, is anyone aware of other bearing hubs from a newer Ford that will work on the axle I have?

Thanks in advance!

it depends on if the f250 is d50 or d44 if its a 44 hub and such should iner change it will be 19 spline like the 1/2 ton stuff. if its a d50 its d60 size barings and hubs it will be 30 spline.

Others have looked into this:

Some parts interchange, which can be helpful to complete an axle someone has partially stripped.

From the above thread:

THINGS THAT WILL SWAP OVER:
gears
rotors
calipers
lockouts

THINGS THAT WILL NOT SWAP OVER:
knuckles
spindles (FSB thread says it is six bolt)
axle shafts
... I've got skills, ingenuity and no regard for maintaining any kind of historical preservation/authenticity...

If I am reading correctly, I may have a set of extra hubs for a Dana 44 3/4 ton with discs. I am installing a 1976.5 D-44 HD into my truck, and I had some extra parts. If you need these and want to talk info, PM me.
