302 flywheel problems

Post by 67 ford f100s rule »

So this last week the clutch in my 70 f100 with 302 and 3 speed overdrive went out. I pulled it apart and the flywheel is pretty badly heat scored and pretty worn. but I cant seem to find a correct replacement flywheel. Has anyone else ever had this problem?

edit it seems that the flywheel I have is made for a diaphragm style pressure and not the long style or lever style pressure plate. I am looking all over but I just get conflicting information.

so here is where I stand, I already have a lever type clutch set. I also already have the wrong flywheel. the original clutch was an 11 inch lever type. but my experience resurfacing flywheels tells me mine is probably toast. So does anyone have an idea on the correct flywheel I need to get?

Can you spot a part number on the flywheel?

If so, you can work backwards from the parts list to see what engines/vehicles it was used on. That's the only idea that comes to mind other than just getting a matching set.

I'm guessing the engine and/or transmission may not be original to the truck.

Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in garages. (Apologies to Kenneth Grahame.)
