No Reverse
I have a '70 F100, 302/C4. The problem I am having is I have no reverse. It seems to have started when some worthless, spineless piece-of-you-know-what backed into my truck at a good clip and then took off. I checked the fluid and linkage which are both fine. When I tried to shift it manually at the transmission while the truck was running, I could hear a noise almost like a quite whine but it did not engage reverse. Next, I attempted to adjust the band and I have almost no resistance when I tighten the adjustment screw. The transmission is a rebuilt that went in about 10k miles ago, if that. Any ideas what could be the problem here?

Re: No Reverse
No resistance at the rear band adjustment? You mean you can tighten the adjustment screw all the way in?
Sounds like the band anchors fell off.
Pull the pan and take a peek.

Re: No Reverse
That's exactly what happens, adjustment screw just keeps turning. I'm gonna pull the pan and valve body tomorrow after work and see what's going on.

Re: No Reverse
Went back through my old posts and saw I never updated this one when I found the issue. My band broke completely. I took it to a shop and when they took it apart they told me it looked like they had just used whatever old parts they had sitting on a shelf somewhere to rebuild my transmission.
Called the rebuild shop about it and they had nothing to offer except excuses...I would recommend NOT using Shift Management for your transmission rebuild.
