Steering Coupler / Rag Joint question
What is the purpose of the thin metal strips that come to a point at the center of the rag joint as in the pic below? The stock one on my old 72 looks very similar but I forgot to get a pic this past weekend.

It's for negative/ ground, without it the horn might not work.

Ohhhh. Then I need to come up with a work around. Might be contributing to my horn issue (no horn).

I found some large ring terminals and made a jumper. Connected from the bolt on the shaft to the bolt/pin on the steering box side. Kept my horn working decades.
