Question Will a 8.8 out of a straight axle housing fit into a IRS housing. Is there mods needed?

The actual gears will work, the carrier is different as it needs to accomodate the clips on the half shafts. I am running 3.73 gears from an '96 Explorer in my '91 Tbird.

I am seeing straight axle 8.8 with C clips. ?????
