Mustang trans code
I have a 90 Gt Mustang and the "TR" code on the door starts with a number 2. I am not sure what this means. Everything I have read online says it should have something different. If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Re: Mustang trans code
A transmission code of "2" designates a T5 5-speed transmission.

Re: Mustang trans code
A T-5 for that year model Mustang would be a World-Class Borg-Warner 5-spd manual.
In 1990, the T-5 was upgraded with the following improvements:
4615 alloy steel for the cluster & 3rd gear
4620 alloy steel for 2nd gear
A coarser pitch was used on 2nd and 3rd improving strength
these upgrades upped the torque capacity to 300 lbs-ft despite the 3.35 1st gear
The 5th gear overdrive ratio was .68:1.
A 1993 Cobra (or even stronger Ford Racing Z-spec) T-5 would have a 2.95:1 1st gear ratio and a .63:1 5th gear ratio.
--The only automatic transmission optionally available in the Fox GT would have been the AOD 4-spd overdrive. It would have a 2.40:1 1st gear ratio and a .68:1 4th gear ratio.
I used to have a white 1989 Mustang GT but it was stolen and never recovered. After it was stolen, I bought a white 1990 (25th Anniversary) Mustang GT. It was an early '90 model without the armrest on the console.
