Clutch issue
Just had my 3.03 tranny rebuilt and new clutch installed on my 1970 F100 with 240 CID. I'm getting a shuddering when disengaging the clutch and a vibration in the clutch pedal when pushing in the pedal, additionally with the clutch pedal in the up position it sounds like the clutch release bearing is still in contact with the clutch. The pedal free play is adjust between 1" to 1.5". Could the new clutch assembly be bad, clutch release bearing or pilot bearing?

Re: Clutch issue
HI,
Did the flywheel get replaced or re-surfaced during the clutch install?
The shuddering could also be from the flywheel and/or clutch pad and/or Pressure plate having oil or grease on it.
As for the free play in the pedal and the release bearing clearance.... I recommend that you remove the inspection cover on the bottom og the bell housing. Then you will be able to look up in there and see if the bearing is in contact with the lever/spring on hte back of the pressure plate. You can adjust this with the adjustment rod which is located on the rod that contacts the clutch fork.
Take care,
Lee
