I'm in the process of pulling the fried C4 trans out of my '69 F100 Ranger. Looks like the only way to get it out is to remove this cross member that runs between the radius arm mounts, otherwise there isn't enough room for the bell housing to come down without hitting the cab.. I've removed the 4 bolts per side holding the cross member in, but can't seem to get it to budge. Is it normal for this to be difficult to remove? Any tricks, or is there a trick to getting the trans out without removing this? I'm assuming maybe I need to jack the frame rails apart slightly to help it come out?
Thanks.

Yes, it is normal for it to be difficult to remove. Hammer it out with a rubber or composite hammer or place a port-a-power between the frame rails.
Reverse procedure to reinstall.
