70 brake issues

Post by outcrydrummer »

Bought a 70 f100 and when I picked it up the brake pedal would basically hit the floor pan lol. Got it home and replaced a few bleeder valves and bleed the brakes. Did that last night and the brakes felt fine. Just went to move it and the pedal is completely sloppy again with no brakes until your at the floor with it. No clearly visible leaks around the drums.

Master cylinder bad?

Sounds like it might be. How's your fluid level? Did you lose any overnight?

Yeah I am loosing a little fluid. Looks like only the front part of the master cylinder. must be a leak somewhere in the front drums.

Check your firewall both inside and out. Sometimes the seal at the back of the m/c goes bad and the fluid will dribble down the firewall. If you have carpet you won't even notice it in the inside or your firewall insulation may be soaking up the leak.

Firewall was clean. Turns out the rear right wheel cylinder was leaking. Couldn't see it leaking because the drum was completely stopped up with gunk
