Hi I have a 72 f100 im installing a 351w and aod in, im not quite sure what to do about the shifter linkage, what are you aod guys doing, i would like to keep my factory column shifter and not have to convert to a floor shifter

Sorry I missed this earlier. I got an aod from a 1993 F150 and it was designed for a shift cable. So my trans guy hooked it up with a shifter linkage from an 80s model designed for a vehicle with a shifter rod. As for the stock column shifter, our trucks weather they had a c4 or c6 the shift pattern is PRND21 the aod's shift pattern is PRN(OD)D1 so I just a lable maker to put od over the original D, and D over the 2. This setup works great for me.

Yes, that way I have the good aod, and it would hook up to my column shifter.
