ford c6 problem
i have a 77 c6 ford transmission i think i have more then one problem while putting the truck in drive i get a hard engage and while going from first to second i get a winding sound and when i go up steep hills it just seems like the truck doesn't want to go almost like it is slipping up the hill just the other night i went to start my truck and i got this quick grind sound now when truck is in idle i can hear a click click click sound not loud u have to squat down next to truck to hear it i installed a new transmission last week with a new torque converter when i had it flushed to the engine block i had to turn the torque converter and pull it forward maybe 1/4 inch no more then that so i could get the nuts onto the converter studs i have a 1.375 pilot did i do this wrong did i screw up a pump gear any help would be great

Re: ford c6 problem
Hello you say that you installed a trans & converter recently & are having problems...Have you contacted the builder ?
Did the same shop build both units, or build the trans & supply you with someone else's converter...1/4 is a bit over spec for flexplate to converter clearance ...1/8 is the called for spec.........you may be OK with that, but you are not getting into your pump gears as far as I would like..I would take it back to the shop that built it & show him how it drives & the noise.. Most shops give you at least a 1 year warranty, some up to 3 years...............Donnie
