1978 F-250 Dana 44 High Pinion Axle

Post by Tpdaniels »

I have a friend who owes me and wants to use all or part of this to reduce his indebtedness. He has a 1978 F-250 Dana 44 High Pinion Axle, from outward appearance it looks very good, has not been cleaned up, no rust or visual damage. It is complete from locking hub to locking hub. it has been in his barn in the dry for about 10 years. I don't need it right now, but if I redo another Highboy later on it would be a top priority item for the truck. He also has a C-6 with married transfer case for a FE engine. Anyone care to get me idea's on the value of the Front Axle and the C-6 with transfer case. I would rebuild all of this if I ever decided to use it so that affects the value but on the other hand both of these items are not real easy to come by.

Thanks for any help.

Local to me I would expect to pay $250-$400 for the front axle in working condition and, while sort of hard to find, I've seen little demand for any mated C6/205 setup for sale. Around here a Ford mated 205 is around $150 and the C6 would probably get thrown in with it.

I sold my 205 here last year for $250 easily, (the crawler guys around here love them for the cheap jeep TC replacement). I've had the mated C-6 with the thimble for sale here locally for $50 for a few months now and only one bite. :(

It all depends on your location. Around here you'd have trouble selling that front axle for $200. The c6/205 would go for anywhere between $150-300 depending on if someone needed an FE c6 or not. By themselves the np205s go for $50-150. Maybe $200-250 if it has a fresh rebuild and repaint.
