You may already know this, some trucks also have a light that clips onto the lighter socket, plugs into the lighting circuit.

that piece i ordered on ebay is junk. it doesn't work. don't order cigarette ligthers from that guy. going with a cheap orange illuminated one from oreillys. should have it done today along with my trailer pig tail. and then need to wire up the choke since my ghetto choke rod dissapeared somewhere. and adjust the timing and the idle... yarg! every time i leave my truck sitting it adjusts itself and breaks a few things :o

i have two of those light clips. i tried to donate them on the forum but didn't get any bites. if you need one kf7mjf i will gladly donate one.

and the cigarette lighter that i said did not work that everyone should avoid buying - it keeps blowing fuses no matter how big they are - that's why i say they're CRAP!!!!!

Are you sure you wired it correctly? I went through the same problem when I replaced my cigar lighter. I connected both wires that were attached to the original to the new one. Turns out only one of those wires is for the cigar lighter. The blue-white stripe wire is power to the cigar lighter, and the blue-red stripe is for the clip on light. It would blow out my dash light fuse, and I couldn't figure out why. The one you bought from ebay is supposed to be grounded separately like mine. Take the blue-white stripe wire and connect it to the center lead, then make a ground wire with a 1/4" spade terminal on one end and a ring terminal on the other. Connect the spade terminal to the other lead on the cigar ligther, and the ring terminal to a good ground. Replace your blown fuses and you should be good to go.

The original grounded through its connection at the dash.

The light plugs into a single female bullet pigtail (light blue/red stripe).
