shackle flip

Post by koch68 »

i have searched this and ford truck website a few times. and i still couldnt get all my questions answered. i want to be able to put 35's comfortably maybe 36's on my f250 highboy. i know that if i put stock superduty springs in the front and add a couple of the stock highboy springs also with 6 inch shackles in the rear of the front springs it will give me enough. but now i want to know about how to level te back out. if i just do a shackle flip and call it good? has anybody done this? and also i o some towing and would like to make te rear stiffer so i would like to go with air bags. thanks and im new to this site and i have been reading up on everything i can find.

I used '05 2500 chevy leaves, shackles, and front hangers trimmed to fit and moved the factory hangers to the back. The chevy leaves are quite a bit longer than the HB units, so the hangers will have to be moved forward the corresponding amount of extra length in front of the center bolt on the spring. I am using a 2.5" lift block instead of the huge HB unit. I ran it without for a couple years, but it sat pretty low in the back. It is just barely rear high now.

She rides super smooth now with these in the back and the SD leaves in the front. This is the ticket. Worth the effort.

So I have looked and looked and haven't really saw anything that will help me with the shackle flip. So my plan is to buy the procomp 4-6" superduty springs for the front and build 6 inch long shackles and the front will be done. Then the rear I want to do a shackle flip with the stock shackles if that's possible? Or if anyone knows if the sky manufacturing shackle flip kit will work? But once I get that all figured out I want to add air bags for towing purposes and it would help level things out I think. Can someone shed some light on this please?

My highboy has 35's with the stock front suspension, If you got 2-3" lift spring for the front that would level the truck and have more than enuff room for 36" tires.
