Seat Mounting Rails
I have read that if you have the mounting rails off a 67 - 72 bench seat that you can put a large selection of seats into the truck. Are there any other years besides 67 - 72 that can be used if the original ones have been trashed?
Thanks,
Bobby

re: Seat Mounting Rails
If I recall, seats up to 96 will mount onto the 67-72 rails. I haven't been actively looking for a newer seat for a while. Kind of give up when funds are low. The yards all want $250 or more. Too much $ in my opinion for core. Everyone I've seen would have needed to be recovered. I'm looking for a bench seat with high backs and possibly a fold down center. I've seen one on keith's pictures of different year seats.

re: Seat Mounting Rails
I have seen those as well and from what I have read all of those will mount if you have the 67 - 72 rail mounts. But can you take the rail mounts from a different year (example: 76 bench rail mounts) and use those in the 67 - 72 trucks? Are all the attaching points the same for the cab to use those mounts instead of the 67 - 72?
Thanks,

I can't say for sure. But if yours are messed up, 67-72 seat rails are a dime a dozen at the boneyards.

re: Seat Mounting Rails
My bench seat was removed from a 79. and everything matches up to the 67-72 mounting. So i'm guessing they are the same.

A newer seat with a center consol would be nice, but dont you think it would be a little less comfortable with a newer thinner seat in there? Besides it already works like a truck, "rides like a car" right?

re: Seat Mounting Rails
I think what he's asking is will seat rails from a later truck bolt to floor of '67-72's.

as i said before no modifications and the 79s fit in my 72.IIRC the same rails & seats were used 67-79 and maybe 80 and later. re: Seat Mounting Rails
Thanks everyone for the information. Based upon what I saw from the feedback, it seems that any seat rails from a 67 -79 factory bench can be used in a 67 - 72 without modification.
I am not having much luck finding a 67 - 72 in the yards locally but did run across a 76 so I will go down that road if they are interchangeable.
Thanks, again.
Bobby
