I found this rear end, will it swap into my 72, it is from a 77?

It won't just bolt in, but it can be modified to fit. A 9" rearend would've only been available on F100/F150, and the frames on these trucks were widened out 4" from the cab back, so the spring pads welded to the axle tubes were spread out 4" accordingly. Therefore, the only way it'll go into your truck is to relocate the spring pads back to the narrow-frame position.

It seems like an easy modification and you end up with a rear end that is the correct width instead of too narrow like the stock original one.

I'm thinking... buy new spring pads and weld them on using the originals as a reference to
get the angle right etc. Would it hurt anything to leave them on and never cut 'em off? :)
