the rod hooks to the carb and the trans lever. each place where it hooks up is held on by E clips. i don't have any pics but the empty studs will tell you where it hooks up.

:yt: It is a kickdown rod that connects the passing gear lever to the carb. Mine is missing too, but my 302 is strong enough to not miss it much. It ain't the most powerful, but it can do the job fine!

This is what it looks like installed:

...and looks like this, depending on your engine/tranny combo. This particular one is for a 302/C4:

See and mine seems like it put puts once in a while, up hills, and when I put it to the floor. So do you think thats it? But I have a 351w im about to put in in the next month, pulling it out of my boat and putting it in, should bolt right up, and will need a new water pump.

usually the onmyl time you need that rod to kick in is going up hills or passing someone.

The old Ford trans didn't need this linkage hooked up like the newer AODs and AODEs do. They simply tell the trans to kick down to a lower gear when a certain amount of throttle is applied and there is a ceratin amount of pressure running through the trans. Nothing wrong with manually shifting the car into 2nd.

Just a side note, if you ever put an AOD type trans in, the TV linkage MUST be hooked up correctly before even driving the car at all. Even low miles on an improper TV adjustment can royally screw up a brand new trans.

Good choice there man, the AOD/AODE trannys need a lot of upgrades to handle any heavy duty work.
