so if a truck has a inline with a np435 and you wanted to mount an fe what all would you have to do? beside the clutch, flywheel, mounts. would i have to change the clutch? would i have to get different bellhousing?

Im no expert on FE's but im almost 100% sure the 240/300 6's use the small block bellhousing pattern. So yes, you would have to get a FE bellhousing for your NP435.

Correct me if im wrong guys, I am buy no means a FE guru, just trying to help.

yes the bellhousings are the same for every manual trans. the only difference is engine size small block and 6 cyl. fe and the 385 series engines. three differetn bellhousings for the engine bolt patterns.

depends on what trans you are replacing. Are you getting this stuff off a parts truck? What motor and trans is in the pickup now? We need all the info.

If you currently have a 360 with a T-18 on a 2wd setup, simply replacing that tranny with a np435 shouldn't require any change except the tranny itself.

i want to take the 360 out of my 71 and put it in another truck. the other truck has a 240 and a np435 in it. i want to hook up the 360 to the np435. i know about the bell hounging and that stuff, but buy putting in a different eng will that make the transmission move fwd, back or stay the same?

Transmission sits on the same mount so it should be an issue with moving it.

Yeah, just use the 360 engine stands in the new truck and everything should line up just fine. I think its the automatics where you have to worry about tranny crossmembers and driveshaft length. Good luck.

You will have to move the engine towers back. Some/most/all of the bolt holes will line up. Most often you have to drill a couple of them out. Also the 6 and the 8 use a different gas pedal if you are going with all stock carb linkage.
Great ideas have always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.
