Not intentionally
Great ideas have always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.

Never by the factory. Ford only used a true 2-speed automatic between 1959-1964 and was called (naturally enough) the Ford-O-Matic 2 speed, also known as the Ford-O-Matic PX. In 1964, the PX 2-speed was replaced by the C4.

Lost 1-2 shift fork in my 435 once. It was then a 2 speed. Not that bad to drive either. Give me a little lower 3rd and I might have left it that way.

ha ha, thats probably what sparked my question. I looked at a truck today that drove great but only shifted twice? it seemed to wind just slightly high at about 60-65 but nothing really too bad.. the tranny "looked" just like my c6 but i had to ask. i was thinking of buyng the truck for parts ( its got a good 390 in it) but if the trannys crapped the overal price of the truck isnt worth it unless its an easy fix. how hard to fix was the shift fork? thanks guys

An automatic doesn't have shift forks. He's talking about his manual 4-speed. ;)

If it shifted twice it's a 3-speed, a 2-speed would only shift once. Maybe the linkage is off and put the trans. in (2) instead of (D)

If you put the selector in 2 in the C6 Fords, then they start and stay in 2nd.
