C6 Trans won't shift out of park

Post by fordtruckparts »

HELP!!

I just got my C6 rebuilt, and I installed it in the truck, and when I put it into reverse, it just sits there like it is still in park. Same with the forward gears. I have hooked the vacuum line into the trans, hooked up the shift linkage correctly, and filled it with Tranny fluid. Vacuum pressure is 18 inches. I did not rebuild the trans myself, it was done by a professional shop (Mr. Transmission). I would assume that it has been done correctly, but of course, I cannot comment on it for sure.

What do you guys think is the problem here? Where should I look first? :?

I would look over everything I had done first then call up the shop that rebuilt it. Being that they were just in the trans they may have an idea what the problem is.

How much fluid did you put in? A C6 with the converter empty holds about 12 quarts of fluid.

I did get the converter seated correctly and the flex plate tightened up. I have about 9 quarts of fluid in it. I also re-checked my hookups and everything is correct. I'm gonna warm it up today and see what the level reads when its warm. I am also going to pull the tranny cooler line off to see if there is any oil coming out. I'll keep everyone posted!
