sounds like it might be an fmx trans. the automatics always seem to be sluggish or rob power when driving them kind of like the enigne has the power but it just wont seem to go any faster on the hiway without over reving the enigne. does that sound right? thats what my truck does and it has a c6 automatic in it.

An FMX has a cast-iron main case with aluminum bell- and tail-housing. Since it's got a removable bellhousing, that would seem to indicate a C4.

so is the c4 auto any good is there any benifits to other than wallet emptying economy it seems tough cause i pulled skidsteers with it and hauled lots of wood so far. I have a giant cooler on it along with the radiator cooler i even got an oil cooler on the moter it self. I suppose the drag is because the motor is small only a 289 2 V is the balance the same between a 302 and a 289 from the late 60's to early 70's :? on the fly wheel

Yes the balance is the same between the later 289's and earlier 302's. The balance issue becomes a factor with the later EFI 302's but I can't remember what fits what. :)

The holding back may have more to do with the rear axle ratio than the trans.
