a good carb reference manual for Holley

Post by mikeconner1 »

Just wondering if you Holley heads on this list could recommend a good reference/repair manual for Holley carbs. I've got one on a '72 bump with a 390, and I don't drive the truck a lot so it sometimes sits for 30 days at a time, and everything I've ever heard about Holley is that sitting is the death of them, although I've got one on a small block Chevy in a ton dump that only gets driven maybe 6 or 7 times a year, and it always fires right up, so who knows? You could write a pretty large volume about what I don't know about carbs, just never got into that part of mechanics, although I've been one all my life. The aforementioned Holley on my 390 has a lot of tip-in hesitation, the choke does not always come on like it should, and I don't think its ever really run right, certainly not anything like the Edelbrock on my '68 390, just does not have the balls that the other, older, far more worn out truck does. So, what do you guys recommend to bring me up to speed?

Mike all of the Holley literature I have is pretty old. I have a couple of tuning handbooks that were published by HP Books. All of the repair manuals and parts books were from Holley themselves. I don't know if any or all of them are still in print. :)

The Tech Library at the Holley site has a pretty good selection of downloadable reference material:
