Side Body Trim Removal

Post by Aternus »

I need to remove the trim on the side of my 70 Ranger so I can do some rust removal near the seam on the bed. Are there any good "tricks" to removing the trim off the clips without messing up the trim? Do I need a special tool?

Sorry, can't help with if you need a special tool to get it off. Mine came off unexpectedly when my 13 yr. old rode his bike too close to the truck and his shirt got caught on the trim a poof boy did that sucker come right off.  Looked like he was throwing a javelin.

Only the edges need to be released...the middle of each just snaps into place. You can slide a very thin piece of metal bent into a 90-degree bend up under the bottom edge of the trim to release the clip. Once each end clip is released, you just unsnap it from the middle clips.
