engine swap (84 lincoln 302 to 67 F-250 352)

Post by allenk »

I have a 1984 Lincoln Town Car with a 302 engine with a/t. I want to put this engine and transmission in my 1967 F-250, the numbers on the truck say that it had a 352. It still has the original engine perches and transimission mount. What do I need to do to make this fit? Is it better to put the newer engine, or go with finding the older (352)?
PLEASE TELL ME THE PROS AND CONS.

a 302 will reqiure small block engine perches to install in place of the fe perches. driveshaft length and yoke will also come into play as the length will possibly be different and the yoke will be different if your truck is a longbed.

If your not towing a lot the 302 will be fine, and with better milage. I'm puttig an 83 302 in my 68. You will have to drill two new hole in the cross member(one for each side) to bolt the 302 perches in your truck since a 302 was not avalible in 67 trucks. The 302 perches all the way up to 1979 trucks will fit. Even the 351m perches will work. Your trans mount will be fine, at most the trans may be a little longer and you may have to drill new holes to mount it. good luck :2cents:

It's your truck and you should do what you want but.......you did ask. Depends on what you want. 302, better gas mileage,390 now that's a man's engine!

She won't be able to handle a 390. Now I'll see how many women are on this forum. Sorry ladies, really, only kidding.

With 4.11 the 302 will be a lot thriftier.
