Water in cylinder

I have a 67 f-100 with a 352 that has water in the number 4 cylinder. I took the drivers side head off to fix broken exhaust manifold bolts. I replaced the head gasket, exhaust, and intake gaskets. Torqued everything to spec, changed oil and coolant and started it up. ran it for a minute or so and then shut it off. I checked the oil and it was all milkshake. I pulled the plugs and the number 4 cylinder was full of water. I cranked it to get the water out and then I did a compression check. All cylinders were good except number 4 which was around 50. I thought maybe it was residual water from when I took the intake off so I made sure there wasnt any water in the cylinder and started the engine, it hydrolocked instantly. The engine ran fine before all this and I didnt touch the passenger side head except to remove the intake. Any one have an idea whats going on? I havnt pulled anything yet except the valve cover

I dont have much experience on fe's but could you have damaged the intake gasket to the #4 cylinder??? But that doesnt explain why it doesnt have compressin unless when it hydrolocked it damaged something else!! Just my two cents!!

when you put the intake on you may have damaged the gasket... that is my thought

The intake gasket did get a little banged up when I put the intake back on, I kind of had a feeling it might be the cause, The engine hydrolocked after all this so I think I might be ok as far as that goes.

that was my thoughts also. maybe the gasket slipped while it was being put back together. they dont like to stay in place very well. i use weatherstrip adhesive to hold them on when i do it.

I Gaskacinch the intake gasket to the head and then run a bead of Ultra Black silicone around the H20 ports.

Well I changed the intake gaskets, started up the engine and almost immediatly noticed water in the oil again. I didnt see any cracks or damage to the intake and head. So I guess the next step is to replace the head gasket which Im pretty sure isnt the problem. Ive had several trucks with FEs and Ive never had any problems when I did headgaskets or or intakes.Thanks for the replies and any other ideas would be appreciated

Is your radiator level dropping? Is there oil in the radiator or just water in the oil?
There could be a little water/condensation left over in the block even though you drained the oil.

I didnt let it run long enough the second time to notice a drop in the radiator. I thought at first it was left over water from when I first pulled the intake and head, but the second time I drained the oil, about a 1/2 gallon of coolant poured out before the oil.

Ok here is a dumb question, were does the round gasket go? Its a distributor base gasket, I didnt see one on the intake originally. Im using the standard Felpro gaskets from Kragens, does anyone have a better choice? Some people have asked me if I was using Felpro and that they are crap. Ive used them many times before with out problems.

pelpro or some weird guy down the street . i dont know. the intake gasket should have metal in it.

I don't know how FE heads are laid out. If they are like 5.0 heads, could you have drilled into the water jacket and exhaust runner when you removed the broken stud? Water could be entering through the exhaust port if you did. Just a thought. You can also pressurize the cooling system and look and listen for the leak.

On the low compression, the coolant most likely washed the oil off the cylinder wall and the rings. Try squirting some oil in the cylinder and test it again. If the compression comes up, you win .
