should i get tranny overhaul or get a remanufactured

Post by LUVMY69FORD250RANGER »

ac delco sells the highly tested c6 on ebay for 400,. also a mechanic told me that overhauling a c-6 thats in the truck is a waste due to it getting so hot in the tranny. thanks for advice.

I thought you had an FMX tranny?

What engine is it going to bolt on to?

Your mechanic is a moron BTW.

Then for a 390 an FMX or a c-6 is the recommended options.

FMX will have a little less drag and loss than a C-6.

As far as rebuilding either of these transmissions, it is fairly simple as long as you take your time and document how it all came apart.

The most expensive part will be the converter.

yeah, the ac delco one on ebay. is 450. with a fee tourque converter, they
got 120 pos no negs., seems like the quickest option. im unsure bout having a guy fom craigslist rebuild a tranny, shops want 1200. the ebay one said to be better than original tranny.

1200 seems steep for a rebuild.

Round here I can have one done for about 450.

Thats from a reputable shop.

You could probably rebuild yours for $200-$250 + fluid.
