Will a Duraspark from 460 fit in a 360?

Post by F10YRB12118 »

I am building a 390 from a 360 for my new project, a 72 F100 XLT SWB 4x4 4 speed.

I am planning on replacing the distributor and going electronic.

I have a parts donor 79 F250 2WD, 460 cu with Duraspark.

I'd like to use the dist. form the 79 in my 72.

Does anyone know if the Dist. form the 460 will fit in my 360/390 rebuild?

Also, as an alternative to the swapped Duraspark, does anyone have recommendations for another aftermarket electronic ignition system, MSD, DUI, Mallory, etc.

Your thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.

Yours, Sean Malis

Nope the FE and 385 Series have different distributors.
1968 F100 Took the running 390 out, and installed a Built 300 with AOD.

I think you can transfer the guts to yours. I know this has been done on here before.

sorry off topic and a small hijack. On your 79 do you have the plastic in frame gas tank?? I need some parts off it, if you have it and are willing to sell those parts?? I need the part that hooks the filler tube and vent tube to the tank itself.

I just installed the Pertronix Ignitor in my '69 with a 390 and it took about 30-45 minutes (added an MSD Blaster coil too) and my idle cleaned up and the stumbling from a stop sign/light has gone away. I can even spin the tires a little longer! It's so easy it practically installs itself and I strongly recommend it. Plus, if you're in to keeping a stock appearance, it all tucks under the distributor cap and looks completely stock. Never change points again! It's also less $$$ than a new distributor.
