good buy for 9 " rear end ?

today i was offered a complete ford 9" rear with 3.00 gears including both drums + a positraction 3.50 hogs head all for $150. this is for a 72 ford pickup. i will have to drive about 100 miles to get it . let me hear what you think.

I'd make sure it's positive like advertised for that price. Don't know where you live but Ford nine inchers are still pretty plentiful.
Most of your chebby powered drag-racers even use our nine inch rear.

most 3.50 geared lockers came out of dentsides, and used 31 spline axles. The bumps are 28 spline. The axle with the 3.00 gears is probably also 28 spline.

$150 is a bargain in my mind, it might not be posi at that price.

convincor , are you sure about this,i know MOST come with 28,but didn't SOME come with 31. my 72 ranger xlt short bed has 31 spline and i am pretty sure it came with 31 spline axles , [ i am 99% sure since i knew the previous owner ]thanks everyone for the in put.

True some may have come 31. I'd pull an axle a check to be sure before making a 200 mile trip.

My '72 came stock with a 31 spline 9 3/8" 3.50L trac loc
Drum to drum $150 is a good price.
