Rebuild of t-85-n tranny

Post by peanutman »

About to pull my tranny and would like to rebuild it myself. I have a shop manual and think i will have to replace 1st gear and cluster. Anyone tackled one of these and how difficult. I know parts are going to be hard to find, but really want to keep this setup. Any advise. :?

I have had mine apart, the overdrive planetary gear was bad in mine. The front is basically a regular 3 speed.

Here are some links to help you.

http://www.classictruckshop.com/clubs/e ... ebuild.htm

http://www.txchange.com/ (they have all of the seals and gears )

http://www.speedprint.com/deves50/overdriveindex.php
Lots of factory scans and rebuild info.

Good Luck.
