What's the deal with rear bumper brackets?

Post by dcbullet »

Being new to the F-100 world, I've read a few times around here that the rear bumper brackets are hard to get if you want to install the nice chrome bumper. What's with that? I want to replace this bumper:

I don't understand why they would remanufacture the nice chrome small bumper, why wouldn't they also make the brackets??? Something doesn't compute. :hmm:

We've been asking the same question for quite a while. You can get new bumper brackets for flareside trucks, but none for the styleside, which does seem a little one-sided, especially considering there's a lot more styleside trucks than flaresides. However, the flareside brackets are much simpler to construct, which could be one of the reasons for it.

These come through on Ebay on a fairly regular basis, getting between $50-$150 a set.
