Radio Wiring for 72 F100 Ranger XLT
Hey I've got a radio that was installed by the bf of the previous owners daughter who works at the local Les Schwab in town, While the guy was great in getting me a deal on some New Toyo 235/75R15's a few months back, he was by no means an electrician of any sort (I.E. Duct taping wires together and whatnot.) The radio power wire wasn't wired correctly, see picture 13 and you'll see what I mean, Where the heck is this supposed to be plugged in at? Also, I know this has been aksed before (I'm fairly certain atleast) Are there any wiring schematics for this truck ANYWHERE???? Also is there anyway I can make the face look a little better?

Most CD players = Yellow a key switch power source, Red is a constant 12v and black is a ground. I've done it the way it's shown in the picture, use the accessory fuse for the switched, the cigarette lighter for the constant 12 and then a good ground for the black. If anyone else has a better method please tell me

One thing I should have stated is that the radio doesn't have any power going to it when the truck is turned off, in other words all my settings? go bye bye when the key goes off.

Okay the way its wired now, it is just wired with power to a key switch source. Run the other wire (should have an inline fuse in it) to a source that gets a constant 12v and that should take care of your setting loss problems.
