Tire Question

Post by cghstrojan08 »

I have a rim that has a 33x12.5x16.5 . Will a tire that is 36x12.5x16 fit? I would think it just would be a little tight on the rim?

I have been told that tires designed for 16.5 and 16 inch rims are very different and must NOT be interchanged!

Well, that sucks. Looks like I get to spend an arm and a leg and get new tires.

no DON'T even try. a person can and likely will get hurt bad. plus good luck finding a tire shop that will mount a 16 on a 16.5 rim.

They wouldn't put the .5 there if they were the same.

Always wondered why every 16" tire has "do not mount on 16.5 wheel" written on it in small print. Figured it was just to cover thier *sses, didn't think anyone would actually try it. Tires don't stretch much.

I've seen people actually get the tire on, but the bead doesn't seat. Tire beads have no give, which is a good thing. Toss those 16.5 rims, they have no value.
