Clutch Kit specifications needed!

Post by Fordfool »

Hey guys, I have tried to do my homework on what I need as far as a clutch kit, but I must admit I am not sure which one I need. I have my old one so I went out and did some exact measurements on widths, so here goes:

Friction disc - 11 3/4" across the disc in the center.

Pressure plate - 11 7/8" across the plate center.

The only numbers I could find on the pressure plate are: LC0080 7K 27B

My engine is a 390 and my transmission is a New Process 435.

So, I have seen that there are 11", 11 1/2", and 12" models. I was wondering which one of these mine fit in...

Thanks much in advance!

Oh and I am sure the 11" one is out because I e-mailed about this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Clutch-K ... dZViewItem and it was not the right one.

you can ford a river or stream and get to the other side, if you dodge it you will not, and if you drive a chevy to the levee it will run dry and the music will die.

i am pretty sure that with a 390 you will need the 11.5 disc, that is what i have read somewhere maybe it was here i cant remember but i know i have read it, and the 11 inch is for the 360.

its the size of the bolt pattern for the pressure plate on the flywheel that matters, not the engine.the FE flywheels fit all the FE engines and you could have either one, and it could have been changed somewhere along the life of the truck.
