Need help identifying a transmission
I have bought an engine and transmission to put in my 67 and need to identify what transmission it is. The engine is a 351w out of a 1990 van and the transmission was original behind it. I have a bunch of numbers off of the tag, but don't know what they mean or how to find that out. Please let me know what I need to do to identify this.
Thanks,
Chad
Thanks,

re: Need help identifying a transmission
Yes it does, if that is the case, is there any way to use it without a computer? Or is the computer needed?

If it's a E4OD then you need the computer and sensors that go to it. For instance the VSS in the rear axle, the TPS, etc. I don't know how, if possible, to bypass or override those. The E4OD is a cr*p transmission anyway.
If it's a AOD I don't believe there's a computer at all.

re: Need help identifying a transmission
The AOD only needs a throttle valve cable you can run off your carb linkage, something like a kick down rod only in reverse.I had an AOD from a 91 Mustang GT behind a 302 in a 66 long bed.I fabricated a bracket that bolted on the back left carb mounting bolt. The trans worked really well after I got the cable adjusted correctly.
