Just a bit on the 351W I built for a buddy's 93 mustang

Post by turbocharged400sbc »

I dont know how i get conned into this stuff...lol

76 351W, hypereutectic pistons, windage tray w/ ARP main studs, ARP rod bolts, and ARP Head bolts, Dart Sr heads fully ported with Manley Valves, K motion springs, Titanium retainers and forged locks, .592 lift cam, 1.6 Comp cams roller rockers, 1 3/4 primary full length headers, and a way to small Perf rpm intake, soon we will be getting a Victor Jr under the 4150 dbl pumper carb. a mallory unilight and MSD 6AL with a Blaster SS Coil and MSD 8.5mm superconductor wires light it all off...

the engine looks sooo much better than the car but thats the point of a sleeper... a freshly overhauled T5 and 4.10 rear gears should make for some fun, it's setup for a 100-150Hp shot of funny juice at some point in the future with the Victor Jr intake.

some engine stand pics: i have better high res pics of it in the rustang all together so i'll post them here soon...

Looks good. In my 83 stang with a lot less done to the windsor than you guys did, I was able to run a best of 7.99 8th mile and pull the front tire six inches.
Good luck with that T-5. Mine only lasted a couple of weeks. (tore 5th gear out of all things)
And 4:10's with the 5 speed are useless on the street. With out slicks the 351's will blow the tires off for about 200 yards all the way through 3rd and part of 4th. I really enjoyed the 3:73 much better.

351w, 5-speed, 3:70 gears (someday)

Well he's been considering buying the SBF belhousing C6 trans i had in my 86 F150, so when the ovehauled T5 goes it'll be nice on my pocketbook

it's not really a street car, but it does get driven, and believe it or not he doesnt beat on it, he saves that for the track, he's been looking at 26 or 28 inch tall 9 inch wide slicks for track duty, but we'll see...

I also got conned into building the engine for my other coworkers 95 mustang GT the vortech'd 302 lost a hole (50psi compression) so i disabled the blower and he's limping it around while i find an engine to go under his CNC'd Trick flow heads I've been trying to get him to get the 331 eagle assembly but he's just lost 1 and 3rd gears in his T5 so he's buying a TKO 600 trans and everything and wants to just buy a crate engine....sometimes i dont understand him :hmm:
I want to sell him the 351W from my truck (86 4bbl non roller cam) and just recondition it with forged pistons and keep the blower...but he'll figure something out :D

On a side note i actually moved my 68 out of the garage, cleaned up a bit and parked it back inside...started right up too, i love that 390...i'm glad i'm keeping it 2bbl with gas nowadays...lol

regards, James
