Modulator stripe color decoding here

Post by Deadhead »

Found this site while searching for C6 modulator color code info. Didnt see any answers to some questions but I did run across the following site. Hope it helps.

Now if someone can tell me what effect different size diaphrams have Id appreciate it. Common sense says bigger is better but with my luck its just the opposite.

Sorry to bring up an old post everyone. I'm back to driving the 68 daily now that the weather has cooled and the 99 needs lots of maintenance done to it.

Continued problems:

1) it still shifts through the gears way too quickly

2) hits 2nd hard, no haven't done the band adjustment yet

3) still slips going into 3rd

The funny thing is that if I'm in 3rd and I hammer it, no slipping.

I'm still driving it like a manual, which is fine as long as I'm not drinking coffee!!!

Am I still in the same place or is it odd that it slips going into 3rd but not while driving in 3rd?

Thanks!

My69 has a 302 with a c-4 and upshifts and down shifts fine. Never had a minutes trouble out of it unless it gets low of fluid. Hasn't had a kickdown on it for over 5 years that I know of and nothing been changed.

Sure - the C4 bellhousing is removable (at least in the 70's they were)!! When I used to do tranny work for my bread and butter, that was one of the "better" things I loved about this little tranny - it's so modular!! Comparing that to some of the Torqueflites (all one big body)I've had to work on... this makes things so much simpler!!!
