Please everyone try to remember that all caps is like yelling in our ears. Other than that i'd go with the GV behind my C6.

AOD would be ok in a light car. In heavy P/U hauling or towing anything.
well, better get a spare or two. If you leave it in second gear, you'll be ok.
Third and fourth will kill it. Not my opinion, just how that particular tranny
is designed. :P

I love my C-6!!! I would really like to add overdrive to it but I am worried about stability. I tend to "show off" the 460 under the hood. Will a GV stand up to the torque?

Back in the early 90's I was managing a parts warehouse that was adjacent to Gear Vendors (when they were located on Pioneer way in El Cajon). They had their own little foundry on site! Anyway a couple of the guys got some great deals on an overdrive setup. One guy had a C30 w/454 and the other a F350 w/460. After a couple of years both had nothing but praise for GV.

Check their web site. I think the GV is rated for 1000 Ft lbs of torque. With a 4.10 rear end I know it is on my wish list! :$$:

Okay My Brothers
Let's see what we've learned so far.

So a C6 + GV equals like being able to have your cake and eat it too!

Isn't it great to be an American!

C6 is a good tough tranny.
E4OD is garbage.
Only know what I've read about the AOD.
And where do you get a GV for "ALMOST NOTHING"? :?

I don't know if anybody said you could get one for almost nothing. I think they are like 2K or something. Doesn't stop me from dreaming.

The guy that started this thread said he could get one for almost nothing. I wish I had that problem.
