You could also swap a 300 in place of the 240 and have more truck power than a 302 could ever dream of.
I don't think any of Ford's I-6's can touch this 302:

Build it to a 347 stroker and you got one bad-to-the-bone small block. :thup:

Actually, I'm pretty sure a bone stock 1V 300 would walk all over that 302 with a 5000 pound trailer in tow.

For a TRUCK you need a TRUCK engine. A 302 may be a great engine, but I can gaurantee the engineers who made it with it's dinky little 3" stroke and light rotating mass had no intention of putting it in a fullsize truck.

And to the mild 351W making 400HP is that with a 200 shot of nitrous? I have respect for the 351W, it does fairly well for it's size. I've done a lot of wheeling with a brute low end torque one in an early bronco, but even being able to pick the front tires off the ground with a hard 3-2 downshift at 25 MPH I seriously doubt it's making more than 200HP and 300TQ.

SOLD-71 F-350 dually flatbed, 302 / .030 over V-8 with a "baby"C-6, B & M truckshifter, Dana70/4.11 ratio, intermittent wipers, tilt steering, full LED lighting on the flat bed, and no stereo yet (this way I can hear the rattles to diagnose)! SOLD!
Many Ford bumps / one 76' EB / and several dents through the years.
A lot of "oddball" Ford parts collected from working on them for 34 years now!

That is a $5000.00 BARE block.

IF I was going to put a 302 in a 67-72 it would be a complete (with AOD) SEFI 5.0 litre mustang drive train.

Yes, it's a bare block.
We all too often pay for technology when you look at this:
The 9.5 deck with a stroke of 4.25" allows displacements to 460 cubic inches!


At 108 pounds lighter than the steel 302 block, and with that stroke watch-out! :wink:
The aluminum block technology is propelling in recreational boating, (especially airboating where heat dissipation is crucial).

Anyway, I love the 302's. :thup:
I presently own three of them, (one .030 over for the Ranchero and two more for whatever comes up). :maybe:
