This is one reason that you should not jack up a vehicle at the pumpkin. I know it's done all the time and even tire shops do it when changing tires but I've always been told it's not a good thing to do. Rather, place the jack at the u-bolts or near the shock mounts if access to the u-bolts is needed and use jack stands. This is also not to say that the housing isn't bent from an accident or something like that. Anyway, it sounds like you've got it covered and good luck with the swap! :thup:

I knew someone in the late 70s or early 80s that had a Ford pickup rear differential crack and leak all of the fluid out on a dirt road close to his home. I don't know the exact location the rear-end cracked because I wasn't one to work on my own vehicles back then, but he told all of us at work when he took it to Ford they swapped out the rear-end, apologized to him, and didn't charge him for the repair.
