I love my blast/paint booth! The chill factor's got it down to 20* today. After converting and cleaning up my blast booth back into a paint booth, time to warm it up..
Photo01020835.jpg
and turn my freshly blasted, nasty brake backing plates and disc dust shields into pretty, shiny, like new!
PaintDay.jpg
Let 'em bake overnight at about 80* and then wrap 'em up for spring install.

...do you pick up and deliver freshly painted parts? If so...we need to talk!

Hey Randy, all kidding aside, I think it's GREAT how you built and are using (to death) your paint booth!

Thanks, Tyler. I just sprayed it with a rattle can of Duplicolor Ceramic Aluminum from my local parts store. A good blasting with Black Diamond followed by a through cleaning then warm it up to 80* for about an hour+. Sprayed the first coat and let it dry at 80* for about 3 hours, then a second coat and dry for 4 hours before I turned everything off and went to bed. Finish looked good and hard. At least, when I pulled the tape off, nothing came with it.

I am glad that I looked at this thread, I plan to start on the back end of my 67. One question, do you need a special paint to spray anything that has POR15 on it. I plan to use engine paint on some of the engine comparment piecies and want to know if it will stick. Nice work on your build. If you want to come to Arizona and help me be my guest.

Nah, you can use anything. It makes a good, hard base with a matte like finish. They recommend that you top coat between 6 - 36 hours after spraying/brushing it. Over 36 hours they say scuff with some 320 grit. I've touched up a few spots after a couple of weeks, and did as they suggested, and I've got great adhesion. Hmmm, let's see...it's cold here and been raining for 3 days straight. Come to Arizona? Oh yeah!

Danggit Randy...I rode right through your town today! Left her at 6:30 AM in route to Cleveland Georgia, (2.5 hour drive from here). That Hwy 53 is one winding road man! And I know I heard the banjo twanging deliverance a time or two on the way!
Saw a lot of decent trucks on the side of the road along the way too man.

It's God's country Jeff! Long as you don't "squeal like a pig" you'll be fine  How'd you get to 53? If you came through town, past the Walgreen's and RiteAid, you were about 3 miles from my house, up Burnt Mountain Rd. Maybe next time through? Very many trips through and you might get to liking it here! If you're going to come through again, I'll tell you the scenic route up my mountain and you can really see some curves.

Good road trip David! I go to church in Dawsonville so I've logged many miles on 53. Gotten to know it, and love it, well. As many times as I've traveled it, every now and then I still take one of those curves a little too fast and it's pucker time!

And oh yeah, guys, watch out for deer!
